Capacity Development For Clean Development Mechanism (CDM, in Bangladesh)
Project period : October 2002 to September, 2003

This project aims to assist Bangladesh in developing its capacity for hosting Clean Development Mechanism with emphasis on public-private partnership development. Its objective is to undertake a range of activities to formulate a country-driven initiative for development of capacity and institutional framework for Clean Development Mechanism in Bangladesh. The project will have the following outputs:

I. Policy guidelines and institutional framework for implementation of CDM in Bangladesh

II. Development of baseline and preparation of business plan for landfill gas extraction project and its productive utilisation.

The concept of bio energy and bio-fuel from municipal solid waste is an attractive concept because it would not only lead to a reduction of pollution but also to generation of power or fuel at the same time. International collaboration is also expected to take place through this project with foreign donors and companies taking initiative in Bangladesh paving the way to capacity building in the country along with creation of employmen
