Waste Concern Provides Pro bono Services to Performance

On request from Performance Improvement Projects (PIP) under `Managing At The Top 2 (MATT-2), a joint programme of Ministry of Establishment, Government of Bangladesh, Department of International Development (DFID), UK and Dhaka City Corporation (DCC), Waste Concern has provided pro-bono services to the project entitled Compost Plant for Introducing Environment Friendly Household Waste Management System in a Selected Community of Dhaka City Corporation. Under the aforesaid project, Waste Concern provided technical design of compost box, financed the construction cost of compost as well as assisted the MATT-2 team in conducting the waste generation survey at Shobhanbag Officers Quarter at Dhaka. Land for compost box was provided by DCC. There are twin compost boxes with a maturing platform in the front with a tin roof supported by bamboo poles. Waste Concern also provided hands-on training to National Nursery Consortium to operate the small compost plant. Waste for this small box type compost plant is collected from house-tohouse with full participation of Officers Association of Shobhanbag Officers Quarter. This project is implemented by Group-E of MATT-2 project, Batch 7 and supported by Officers Association of Shobhanbag Officers Quarter, DCC, Waste Concern and National Nursery Consortium.
